A Message from God During a Walk in Central Park

A Message from God During a Walk in Central Park

A Message from God During a Walk in Central Park

A simple conversation with a group of teenagers reminded me that sometimes God answers our prayers in the most unexpected ways.

Last week was a difficult one.

I had been running into challenge after challenge while trying to revamp some of my designs. I hired someone to help, thinking it would ease the process, but it actually created more stress and took more time.

On top of that, I had injured myself and couldn’t work out for several days. In fact, for a couple of days I could barely walk.

Physically I felt off. Mentally I felt drained.

And like many people right now, I’ve also been feeling the weight of everything happening in our country — the noise, the negativity, the constant media storm.

The result?

Low energy. Doubt. Disconnection.

But then something happened.

The first truly warm day of early spring arrived in New York City, and I knew I needed to get outside. Even though my injury meant I had to walk slowly, I decided to do my usual loop in Central Park.

Before I left, I grabbed one of my shirts — the red We The People tee — and headed out.

As I was walking past a group of students, probably about fifteen years old, one of the boys called out:

“I love your shirt!”

I turned around, walked back, and said, “Thank you so much. I actually designed it.”

Immediately the whole group lit up. They were curious and excited. We talked for a few minutes about the design and the idea behind The Lion & The Cross.

The young man then smiled and said something that made me laugh.

“Charlie Kirk would approve!”

That opened the door for me to share the story behind the brand — how the Lion and the Cross came to me and why I felt called to create it.

They were an impressive group of young people. Thoughtful. Engaged. Courageous.

So I asked them something.

“Is it hard to be in New York City and have your beliefs?”

One of the girls answered immediately:

“We find our people.”

When she said that, I stopped for a moment.

Because if you’ve seen my website or my advertising, you know the tagline behind The Lion & The Cross is:

“Find your people without saying a word.”

There I was, wearing my shirt on a simple walk through Central Park.

And without saying a word, we found each other.

Right after that moment, I recorded a short video while I was still walking through the park. I was still thinking about the encounter and what it meant.

One Minute Video Here

In the video I’m wearing the We The People tee, part of The Lion & The Cross collection.

Sometimes something as simple as a shirt can spark a conversation — or help you recognize the people who share your values.

That moment reminded me exactly why I started The Lion & The Cross.

These designs are meant to quietly signal something deeper — faith, courage, and love of country. A way to express what you believe without needing to say anything at all.

But something even more powerful happened that day.

Almost instantly, the heaviness I had been carrying lifted. I felt lighter. Encouraged. Energized again.

Before that walk, I had been praying.

I had asked God a simple question:

Am I on the right path?

Is this something I’m supposed to be doing?

The Lion & The Cross started as a simple idea — a shirt line that reflects faith, patriotism, courage, and love for our country.

A way for people to express who they are and what they believe.

But that day in Central Park reminded me of something important.

God doesn’t always shout.

Sometimes He whispers.

And if we are paying attention, we start to notice the messages.

The encounters.

The encouragement at exactly the moment we need it.

Recently I experienced another moment like that.

I connected with a well-known YouTuber who talks to people about patriotism and American values. We ended up having a great conversation, and he generously gave me advice about building the brand.

But what struck me most was a story he told me.

He once needed a kidney transplant.

He mentioned it on his YouTube channel, and one of his subscribers reached out and said they wanted to donate a kidney.

The YouTuber responded honestly:

“That’s incredibly generous, but there’s only about a 1% chance you’d actually be a match.”

The subscriber replied:

“I will be a match.”

They got tested.

And he was.

When the YouTuber asked him how he could have been so sure, the donor answered simply:

“Jesus told me I was supposed to give you my kidney.”

When I heard that story, I was deeply moved.

What a powerful example of faith and courage.

The YouTuber told me something else that stayed with me.

He said that although he wasn’t raised as a Christian, after that experience he became absolutely certain that Jesus is his literal and spiritual Savior.

Another message.

Another clue.

Since starting The Lion & The Cross, I’ve found myself connecting with some of the most faithful, courageous, freedom-loving people I’ve ever met.

And moments like that walk in Central Park remind me that maybe this idea didn’t come from me alone.

Maybe it was meant to happen.

I don’t know exactly where this journey will lead.

But I do know this:

When we slow down, pray, and ask for guidance, the messages are there.

The encouragement is there.

The connections are there.

But we have to be willing to listen.

Sometimes the messages come through people.

Sometimes through unexpected conversations.

Sometimes through moments when we feel discouraged and God gently reminds us that we are not alone.

But those messages are happening all the time.

The question is:

Are we paying attention?

When was the last time you slowed down long enough to notice the message meant for you?

If you're curious about the design that started the conversation that day, you can see it here:

A design created for people who believe in:

Faith
Courage
Freedom

Because sometimes the right message doesn’t need to be spoken.

It can simply be worn.
